It’s been a month since we opened our doors to St Patrick’s Green, Kogarah and the time has just flown by. Our first retirement living residents are already settled into the Village and are enjoying all of the free time that Village life affords. The Greengate team have loved watching our residents get to know each other better over morning tea in the café each day, and have had to exercise a lot of self-restraint by not eating all of the delicious cakes our Head Chef, Nelson has been preparing. Judith, our very first resident to move in, summed it up simply and perfectly: “St Patrick’s Green is a beautiful place.”
St Luke’s Green, Greengate's first Brisbane Village, has won the prestigious nettletontribe Award for Design Excellence at the Property Council of Australia’s National Retirement Living Awards 2017, in recognition of its incorporation of innovation around a historic church.
Located in Kogarah, St Patrick’s Green is a new retirement and aged care home designed to specialise in memory support for those living with dementia. Our experienced team is hosting an important discussion and education event for the community with the support of leading advocate, Sue Pieters-Hawke.
Meet Paul, our Head Chef at St Luke’s Green, Woolloongabba. Paul is a valuable part of Greengate’s Brisbane team, and not just because he cooks some of the best cakes and meals we have ever tasted. He has recently returned from his eighth trip to Mongolia where he volunteers at an orphanage, teaching young people how to cook.
St Brigid’s Green, Maroubra is excited to be the first Aged Care Home in Australia to be trialing the new app Care Konnect. This mobile phone app has been designed to help residents, their family and friends to stay connected, and to keep up-to-date with what’s been happening at St Brigid’s Green. This is something we have wanted to do for a long time, and we think it is going to be a positive step into the future for all of us in the St Brigid’s Green community.
You’re sitting on the balcony of your brand new apartment. The sun is rising over the water and the Sydney skyline to your north is silhouetted against the pink sky. You feel the cool sea breeze and you take a moment to appreciate where you are. The view to Botany Bay is beautiful at this time of morning, and from where you’re sitting you can take it all in. You head inside and down the lift to join your friends in the café for a coffee – who knew Retirement Living could be so easy?
Choosing to move out of the family home and into a Retirement Village can be one of the biggest decisions of our life. We’ve put together a list of five important things we believe you should consider when choosing a Village that’s right for you.
